Cows kill 20 Americans every year.

But you can halve your chance of dying of a heart attack by drinking 8 bottles of wine a week.

Death's a funny thing, as stand-up mathematician Matt Parker (audience award, FameLab 2009) and Timandra Harkness ('a deadly wit' [Scotsman]) will prove - with the help of a mystery guest, a game show and the Grim Reaper.

You have a 0.000043% chance of dying during this show.

You will at least die laughing.

A genuinely fun and thought-provoking hour for anyone with an interest in, well, stuff.

Dead fascinating stuff, imparted with a light, unpatronising touch. It's certainly not just for maths geeks

Three Weeks August, 2010

An unusual comedy because it's also informative... A good way to start the day.

★★★★

Daily Mail - August, 2010

Wonderfully tangential at times and growing exponentially in terms of fascination as it progressed, ... an enthralling hour of generally well-researched entertainment, the by-product of which was that we all emerged better educated about what not to worry about.

MATT PARKER

Matt Parker

Matt Parker's erudite brand of comedy takes on the topical and the daft in equal measure. Life's a game for Matt and his playful enthusiasm is so infectious you can't help but be drawn into his comedy world.

Relaxed and measured, Matt meanders through his thoughts and suggestions as the audience enthusiastically take part. A fixture of the illustrious Mathematics speaking circuit since January 2007, Matt has recently stormed into stand-up and has swiftly established himself as a exuberant new act and compère.

2009 Semi-finalist, Amused Moose Laugh Off
2009 Finalist, Oxford Fringe Hobgoblin Comedy Awards

TIMANDRA HARKNESS

Timandra Harkness

Timandra spent five years performing solo stand up comedy after running away from the circus, and is now half of THE COMEDY RESEARCH PROJECT, a double act with scientist Dr. Helen Pilcher. Her second short film, Reported Missing, can currently be seen in international festivals.

With Linda Cotterill, she wrote a feature film about a man going to Mars in his own hall cupboard, with support from the UK Film Council. Their comedy, No Future in Eternity, was broadcast twice on BBC Radio 4 after a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Timandra won the 1997 Independent newspaper column-writing competition with a short piece on goat-borrowing. She now writes for newspapers and magazines including the Daily Telegraph, WIRED and BBC Focus on science, technology and motoring. She also hosts public events and is a consultant and trainer in science communication.

Television appearances include several series of the BBC 4 panel show Mind Games, and an Open University programme about particle physics.
